Preventative Dentistry

As a practice, we are true believers that preventive care and education are the keys to optimal dental health. That’s why we focus on thorough exams – checking the overall health of your teeth and gums, and taking digital radiographs when necessary. We also know that routine hygiene therapy is also very helpful in preventing dental disease.

Check-Ups

Haven’t been to the dentist in a while? It’s never too late to come on in to Dentistry in Aurora. We’re here to help with whatever concerns you may have with your oral health.

Digital Radiographs

When necessary, we’ll take digital radiographs of your teeth, using x-ray technology, to capture data on your mouth. This will help us to track your progress and to detect any issues that may need to be addressed.

Hygiene Therapy

Our hygiene therapy team will work with you to develop a customized hygiene regime that will help you to unlock your best oral health. By working with our specialists, you’ll be better equipped with knowledge to keep your gums and teeth clean and healthy!

How To Care For Your Teeth Through Preventive Dental Care

Periodontal disease and decay are both caused by bacterial plaque. Plaque is a colorless film, which sticks to your teeth at the gumline. Plaque constantly forms on your teeth. By thorough daily brushing and flossing you can remove these germs and help prevent periodontal disease.

Brushing Tips

  • Brush at a 45-degree angle
  • Gently move the brush in a circular motion
  • Use light pressure while putting the bristles between the teeth

Flossing Tips

  • Gently insert the floss tightly between the teeth using a back-and-forth motion
  • Bring the floss to the gum line then curve it into a C-shape against one tooth
  • Slide it into the space between the gum and the tooth until you feel light resistance
  • Move the floss up and down on the side of one tooth
  • When you are done, rinse vigorously with water to remove plaque and food particles
